The third title fight on the Maximum Fighting Championships 40 fight card on May 9th is now official as Sam Alvey will defend the middleweight title against Wes Swofford.
The fight booking was announced by the Maximum Fighting Championships on Thursday evening.
Maximum Fighting Championships 40 will take place from the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta and tickets are currently on sale.
Alvey (21-5, 1NC) won the middleweight title at MFC 38 in October as he defeated Jason South by TKO in the fifth round with four seconds left in the fight. He has won four of his last five and all of those victories have come by TKO.
Swofford (9-4) made his MFC debut in February of last year and defeated Jay Silva by TKO in the first round. He has won six of his last eight fights, including a knockout win against Tramain Smith in a fight outside of MFC.
“Alvey and Swofford match up so well stylistically that they’re going to create an incredible fight. It has all the makings of being the wildest, craziest title fight in MFC history,” said Maximum Fighting Championship Owner/President Mark Pavelich.
