Earlier this year, the UFC announced that Shane Carwin and Roy Nelson would be the next coaches on “The Ultimate Fighter,” which was surprising because of the relationship between UFC President Dana White and Nelson.
During a special edition of “UFC Tonight” on FUEL TV, White talked about dealing with Nelson during the taping of the reality show and if he feels if it’s good TV.
“I don’t know if it’s good TV or not,” White said. “At the end of the day, what people have to understand is The Ultimate Fighter is not about good TV, it’s about finding the best guys to get into the UFC. We bring in these coaches because we believe they have something to offer, not just in training but knowledge, experience and all these other things that come along with the guys we pick for coaches.”
White went on to say that Nelson is “by far the worse coach he has had to deal with,” but does not regret at this point on making him a coach.
The Ultimate Fighter: Team Carwin vs. Team Nelson airs every Friday night at 10 p.m. ET and will conclude with the live finale on December 15th from The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, which will be headlined by Carwin meeting Nelson.
