A scheduled lightweight bout for Saturday’s UFC 172 has been scratched as Vagner Rocha has suffered an injury and Joe Ellenberger will not receive a new opponent.
UFC officials announced the change on Wednesday evening.
UFC 172 takes place from the Baltimore Arena in Baltimore, Maryland on Saturday and will be headlined by Jon Jones defending the light heavyweight title against Glover Teixeira.
Ellenberger was scheduled to make his UFC debut in this fight and was initially booked to face Yancy Medeiros. However, it was announced on Sunday that Medeiros had been moved to the main card to face Jim Miller and Ellenberger would now face Rocha. According to the UFC, Rocha suffered an injury during a training session in Baltimore.
With this fight now being off the fight card, the event will go forward with ten fights and the lightweight bout between Danny Castillo and Charlie Brenneman has been elevated from the Fight Pass prelims to the prelims on Fox Sports 1.
