A lightweight bout between two UFC newcomers has been announced for UFC Fight Night 43 in New Zealand on June 28th as Dashon Johnson will meet Jake Matthews.
The fight booking was announced by UFC officials on Tuesday evening.
UFC Fight Night 43 will come from the Vector Arena in Auckland, New Zealand and will be headlined by a middleweight bout as James Te-Huna meets Nate Marquardt.
Johnson (9-0) has won his last two fights by submission in the first round and was scheduled to make his RFA debut in two weeks. Instead, he will face Matthews and will be looking for his third win of 2014.
Matthews (4-0) was a member of Team Australia during “TUF Nations” and was eliminated from the welterweight tournament by Oliver Aubin-Mercier. He is dropping down to the lightweight division for his official UFC debut and three of his four victories ave come by stoppage in the second round.
