Wilson Reis has decided to drop down to the flyweight division and he will make his debut in the 125 pound division on August 23rd as he meets Tim Elliott at UFC Fight Night 49.
The fight booking was announced by the UFC on Wednesday and this is the first fight officially announced for the fight card.
Reis (17-5) made his UFC debut last year and defeated Ivan Menjivar by unanimous decision at UFC 165. The victory over Menjivar was his fifth straight victory and his winning streak would be snapped in February as he lost a split decision to Iuri Alcantara at UFC Fight Night 36.
Elliott (10-5-1) has dropped back to back fights in the UFC and his most recent defeat came in April against former title challenger Joseph Benavidez. Prior to his recent defeats, he had won two fights in a row, with those wins coming by decision against Jared Papazian and Louis Gaudinot.
UFC Fight Night 49 will come from the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma and ticket information is expected to be announced by the UFC in the coming weeks.
