UFC 176 was scheduled to take place on August 2nd from the Staples Center in Los Angeles but the promotion has postponed the pay-per-view event following an injury to UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo.
UFC officials announced the postponement on Tuesday evening.
Aldo was scheduled to headline the fight card against Chad Mendes in a rematch of their 2012 bout which Aldo won by knockout with one second left in the opening round. The rematch will now be rescheduled for later this year when Aldo is ready to step into the cage.
As the UFC 176 event that was scheduled for the Staple Center, ticket refunds will be offered at the original point of purchase. If tickets were purchased from AXS via www.axs.com or Purchase By Phone, refunds will be received automatically via AXS. Tickets purchased from the Staples Center box office can be refunded there, beginning Wednesday, July 9th. Those who purchased tickets at any other outlet should reach out to that original point of purchase and contact them directly for a refund.
With UFC 176 being postponed, the August 30th pay-per-view in Sacramento will still be called UFC 177 and will be headlined by a title rematch as TJ Dillashaw defends the bantamweight title against Renan Barao. The event will come from the Sleep Train Arena and tickets will go on-sale Friday, July 18th.
