Demetrious Johnson defends flyweight title against Chris Cariaso in co-main event of UFC 177

UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson is coming off a successful title defense last month and he will return on August 30th at UFC 177 as he will be challenged by Chris Cariaso in the co-main event of the pay-per-view event.ufc177_560x440

UFC officials announced the fight booking on Tuesday evening.

UFC 177 will come from the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, California and will be headlined by TJ Dillashaw defending the UFC bantamweight title against former champion Renan Barao.

Johnson (20-2-1) defeated Ali Bagautinov at last month’s UFC 174 in Vancouver and it was his sixth straight win. This will be his fifth UFC title defense and his second fight this year.

Cariaso (17-5) has won three fights in a row and was scheduled to meet Kyoji Horiguchi at UFC Fight Night 52 in September. His last two wins have come by decision and his last win came in May against Louis Smolka.
