The potential matchup that has been talked since Saturday afternoon is now official for UFC 178 on September 27 in Las Vegas as Conor McGregor will meet Dustin Poirier.
UFC officials announced the fight booking on Tuesday afternoon.
UFC 178 will take place in Las Vegas on September 27th and will be headlined by Jon Jones defending the UFC light heavyweight title against Alexander Gustafsson.
McGregor (15-2) defeated Diego Brandao on Saturday in the main event of UFC Fight Night 46 and he has won all three of his fights in the promotion. Two of his three wins in the UFC have come by TKO and he has won a fight night bonus in both of those TKO wins.
Poirier (16-3) is currently on a three fight winning streak and his last two wins have come by TKO. His most recent win came in April as he defeated Akira Corassani at The Ultimate Fighter Nations Finale in the second round and he has gone 8-2 in the UFC.
