The main event for Bellator 127 has been announced as former featherweight champion Daniel Straus will meet season nine tournament finalist Justin Wilcox on the October 3rd event.
In addition to the main event, Bellator also announced that former light heavyweight champion Christian M’Pumbu is dropping down to the middleweight division and he will make his 185 pound debut against Kendall Grove.
Bellator 127 will come from the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, California and tickets for the event are currently on sale at the Pechanga Box Office, Pechanga.com or Bellator.com.
Straus (22-5) won the Bellator featherweight title late last year when he won a decision against Pat Curran, but he would lose the title in their rematch in March as he was submitted with fourteen seconds left in the fight. This will be his first fight since losing the title and his fight against Wilcox starts his road back to reclaiming the Bellator title.
“I’m ready to get back to work,” Straus said. “I love to stay active, fight as much as I can, and now I have the opportunity to get back on the road to getting my title shot, and Justin is in the way of that goal. I’ve got to focus on myself and what I’m doing, but you better believe I’ll have my eyes on Curran-Pitbull on September 5th as well.”
Wilcox (14-6-1) entered Bellator last year and made it to the finals of the season nine featherweight tournament before being defeated by Patricio Pitbull. He moved back to the lightweight division in his last bout, which was a win against Jason Fischer and he is back down at featherweight for this bout.
