British welterweight Leon Edwards has signed with the UFC and he will make his promotional debut at UFC Fight Night 56 on November 8th in Brazil against Claudio Silva.
The signing and fight booking was made official by the UFC on Thursday afternoon.
UFC Fight Night 56 will come from the Ginasio Municipal Tancredo Neves in Uberlandia, Minas Gerais, Brazil on November 8th and will be headlined by a light heavyweight bout as Mauricio “Shogun” Rua meets Jimi Manuwa.
Edwards (8-1) has won six fights in a row and is coming off a third round knockout win against Shaun Taylor at BAMMA 16 two weeks ago. Six of his eight wins have come by stoppage and four of those wins have come by TKO/KO.
Silva (10-1) won his UFC debut earlier this year when he defeated Brad Scott by unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 37. He has won ten in a row since losing his professional debut in 2007 and six of his wins have come by submission.
