Roan Carneiro recently won the BattleGrounds MMA one-night welterweight tournament and he is now returning to the UFC to meet Mark Munoz at UFC 184 in a middleweight bout.
The fight booking was announced on Tuesday night’s edition of UFC Tonight.
UFC 184 will come from the Staples Center and will be headlined by Chris Weidman defending the UFC middleweight title against Vitor Belfort.
Carneiro (19-9) went 1-3 in his first stint in the UFC and has gone 7-1 since his exit from the promotion in 2008. He is currently on a five fight winning streak and defeated Randall Wallace, Trey Houston, and Brock Larson to win the BattleGrounds MMA one-night welterweight tournament in October.
Munoz (13-5) has dropped back to back fights and three of his last four. Both of his recent defeats have come by stoppage in the opening round and the last defeat came in May against Gegard Mousasi.
