The UFC continues to add fights to upcoming fight cards and that continued on Wednesday at TUF alums John Cofer and Mike Rio will meet at the TUF Finale on December 16th in Las Vegas.
The fight was announced this afternoon by UFC officials and the bout will take place on the preliminary card.
Cofer (7-2) was a member of Team Faber during the 15th season of TUF and made his official debut against Justin Lawrence at the live finale and was defeated by knockout in the third round. Prior to his lost to Lawrence, he was on a four fight winning streak and two of the wins came by submission.
Rio (8-1) was also a contestant on the 15th season of TUF and he was a member of Team Cruz. He was unable to compete in the live finale because of an injury and this will be his official UFC debut. Seven of his eight career victories are by knockout or submission and his last three wins have come by knockout.
The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale takes place from The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on December 15th and will be headlined by a heavyweight bout as former interim heavyweight champion Shane Carwin takes on Roy Nelson.
