When Georgi Karakhanyan steps in the cage Friday night at Bellator 132, he will begin his second go around with the organization.
His first stint ended with so-so results, departing with a 2-2 record. Although, it is important to note that his two losses came to Bellator mainstays and current champions Patricio Freire and Joe Warren.
Since then, all Karakhanyan has done is win, topping it off with a 10 fight win streak and claiming the WSOF featherweight title. Now, he returns to the organization where he first made his name.
“I’ve gone out and won two championships since I last fought for Bellator. Now I’m coming back with bad intentions,” Karakhanyan declares. “I’m bringing a lot more experience to the Bellator cage this time around. I still have a lot of growing to do when I fought for Bellator previously. Now I’m back to take care of unfinished business.”
What is that unfinished business Karakhanyan is referring to?
“I plan to become a world champion here. My goal is sometime next year.”
His first step towards that goal begins on Friday night when he takes on rising prospect Bubba Jenkins.
“Unfortunately for Bubba Jenkins, he’s first in line. I just hope Bubba’s ready and he’s coming out there to whoop my ass. Because if he doesn’t, I’m going to whoop his ass [laughs].”
Doing so would be a nice welcome back for the Armenian fighter. Either way, he’s glad to be home.
“I’m just really happy to finally be coming back home to Bellator.”
