Cung Le will be headling his first UFC fight card on Saturday in China against former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin at UFC on FUEL TV 6.
Le (8-2) is the former Strikeforce middleweight champion and on last night’s edition of “UFC Tonight” on FUEL TV, he admitted that this is the biggest fight of his career.
“This is actually the biggest fight of my career,” Le said. “It would mean so much to me. It would take me to the next level in my career by beating Rich Franklin.”
This will be the third time that Le has stepped into the UFC octagon, but he will not be 100% on Saturday because of a foot injury he suffered during his UFC 148 bout against Patrick Cote. Under normal circumstances, Le would have declined the fight but wanted to take the fight since it’s in China.
He saw his doctor six weeks ago about the foot injury and the doctor told him that he should take another two or three weeks before getting back into training so the foot could fully recover. However, Le had to begin training to be ready for his fight with Franklin.
“The doctor was saying to take up to eight to ten weeks for a deep bone bruise to heel up and that takes up so much time from training. So I did all of these crazy healing methods and it actually worked.”
One of the crazy healing processes that he used was blood letting, which he filmed and posted on his You Tube page. It was a painful procedure, but this is what Le was willing to do to take the fight against Franklin in China.
