A lightweight bout has been added to UFC Fight Night 67 on May 23rd in Brazil as Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes winner Norman Parke will meet Brazilian Gilbert Burns.
Parke announced the fight booking during a Q&A today in Ireland.
UFC Fight Night 67 will come from the Goiania Arena in Goiania, Goias, Brazil and the fight card will be headlined by a welterweight bout as Carlos Condit returns from injury to meet Thiago Alves.
Parke (20-3-1) is coming off a split decision defeat to Gleison Tibau in January and the defeat snapped an eleven fight unbeaten streak. During the Q&A, Parke stated that he was originally offered Edson Barboza, but the fight could not happen due to an injury and he plans to smash Burns.
“I am going to be traveling to Brazil on May 30th and I am going to completely take his head clean off,” Parke said. “I am going into enemy territory and I am going to completely smash him.”
Burns (10-0) is coming off a submission win two weeks ago as he defeated Alex Oliveira at UFC Fight Night 62. His last two wins have come by armbar submission and he is 3-0 in the UFC.
