UFC welterweight Dan Hardy has been out of action since 2012 and he began working as a UFC commentator last year for fight cards that air on Fight Pass.
His last fight took place at UFC on FUEL TV 5 as he defeated Amir Sadollah and it was his second straight win after losing four in a row in 2010 and 2011.
Hardy (25-10, 1NC) was the host of a Q&A session yesterday in Ireland with several fighters and a fan asked Hardy if he wants to fight again.
“I would like a couple of more,” Hardy said. “I would like maybe two more fights. I was just speaking to Dana [White] backstage and he is trying to convince me — ‘you have a career in commentary.’ It’s not the same. When I get into the octagon and interview these guys after their fights and I got my arm around them, I am feeling that energy that they are putting off. I miss that and to be honest, I miss all of this. Honestly, I would love to fight again. I would like maybe two more.”
According to an article on Bloody Elbow about British kickboxer Chad Sugden, Hardy has been in the gym and sparring with Sugden. They worked out together two weeks go and stated that Hardy was heading to Poland “to train with some of their UFC guys and he wanted to sharpen up and get some quality stand-up sparring in.”
Only time will tell if the UFC will give another fight to Hardy, but it appears that “The Outlaw” is working his way to stepping back into the UFC octagon as a fighter.
