The main event of Bellator 140 is now set as welterweight champion Douglas Lima will defend the title against two-time tournament winner Andrey Koreshkov.
The fight booking was announced by Bellator on Monday afternoon and Bellator 140 on July 17 will come from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.
“Douglas Lima is an incredible champion who is in for one of the toughest fights of his life against Koreshkov,” said Bellator President Scott Coker. “When the rest of this card is announced, we’ll have put together one of the greatest showcases of welterweight talent ever assembled on one night.”
Lima (26-5) won the vacant Bellator welterweight title last year when he defeated Rick Hawn by TKO at Bellator 117. This will be his first title defense and recently returned to training following an injury that kept him out of Bellator 134 in February. Koreshkov (17-1) won the season ten welterweight tournament last year when he defeated Adam McDonough. He was won four fights in a row after losing to then Bellator welterweight champion Ben Askren in 2013.
