A lightweight bout has been added to the UFC on FOX 16 card as Joe Lauzon will meet Takanori Gomi in a bout that is likely to be placed on the televised preliminary card.
The fight booking was announced today on America’s Pregame Show on Fox Sports 1.
UFC on FOX 16 will come from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois on July 25th and will be headlined a title rematch as T.J. Dillashaw defends the bantamweight title against former champion Renan Barao.
Lauzon (24-10) has been in the UFC since 2006 and he is 3-4 in his last seven fights. After winning back to back fights, he was defeated in his last appearance as he lost to Al Iaquinta at UFC 183 in January. Gomi (35-10, 1NC) will also enter this fight following a defeat as he lost to Myles Jury at UFC Fight Night 52 last year. He is 3-2 in his last five fights and two of those wins came by decision.
