The second episode of The Ultimate Fighter 21 debuted last night on Fox Sports 1 and featured Luis “Buscape” Firmino defeating Uros Jurisic by unanimous decision.
According to Nielson sources, the preliminary viewership for the show came in at 454,000 viewers. 311,000 of those viewers where in the A18-49 category, which is a 42% increase over episode 2 of the Spring 2014 season on viewership (vs. 320,000) and a 45% increase in A18-49 (vs. 215,000). FOX Sports 1 was #1 among ad supported cable sports networks in adults and men 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 in the 10-11 p.m. ET slot.
When it came to the competition last night, the night was won by NBA playoff games on TNT. The early game (7p ET) drew 1.871 million viewers and the late game (9:45p ET) delivered 2.937 million viewers. Other top sports programming last night included the NHL playoff game on NBCSN (978,000) and MLB baseball on ESPN (521,000).
The key number to pay attention to when it comes to the ratings for The Ultimate Fighter 21 is the +3 DVR rating. The premiere episode ratings jumped 44 percent with over 700,000 viewers and the DVR numbers for last night episode will come out on Tuesday of next week.
