A welterweight bout is the latest edition to the UFC 189 fight card on July 11 in Las Vegas as Jake Ellenberger will meet Stephen Thompson.
The UFC confirmed the fight booking with ESPN on Thursday.
UFC 189 will come from the MGM Grand Garden Arena and will be headlined by a title fight as Jose Aldo defends the featherweight title against Conor McGregor.
Ellenberger (30-9) is coming off a submission win in February against Josh Koscheck and the victory snapped a three fight losing streak. It was his sixth career win by submission and first since 2006. Thompson (10-1) is currently on a four fight winning streak and his most recent win came in September of last year against Patrick Cote. He was scheduled to fight in February, but an injury forced him to pull out of the fight.
