The “King of the Ring” is returning to mixed martial arts competition as Tyrone Spong is slated to compete at WSOF 22 on August 1 in Las Vegas.
WSOF Executive Vice President Ali Abdel-Aziz told MMA Fighting on Tuesday that Spong will be on the WSOF 22 fight card and his opponent has not been determined at this time.
WSOF 22 will come from The Axis inside the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas on August 1st and will be headlined by Rouismar Palhares defending the welterweight title against Jake Shields.
Spong (2-0) made his MMA debut in 2012 and both of his MMA bouts have come in the WSOF cage. His last MMA bout came in the summer of 2013 as he defeated Angel DeAnda by unanimous decision at WSOF 4. He recently returned to competition following a leg injury as he made his boxing debut in Germany.
