The Bellator 137 Weigh-Ins took place today in Temecula, California and middleweight champion Brandon Halsey missed weight by 3.1 pounds.
Today’s weigh-ins came from the Cabaret Theater inside the Pechanga Resort and Casino.
The main event fight between Halsey and Grove will remain on the card even thought Halsey missed weight. If Halsey wins tomorrow, he will vacate the title and if Grove wins, he will become the Bellator middleweight champion.
Halsey was one of two fighters on the main card to miss weight with the other being co-main event fighter Mike Richman. He came in 3.2 pounds over the bantamweight limit of 136 pounds and his bout against Eduardo Dantas will go forward as a catchweight bout.
In addition to Halsey and Richman, three fighters on the preliminary card missed weight as well on their first attempt with the fighters being A.J. Jenkins, Virgil Zwicker, and Joe Taimanglo. While Jenkins was able to make weight on her second attempt, Zwicker and Taimanglo did not make weight. Halsey, Richman, Zwicker, and Taimanglo will be fined 20 percent of their purse for missing weight and half of the fine will go to their opponent.
