UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will make her next title defense on January 2 as she will be challenged by Holly Holm at UFC 195 in Las Vegas.
Rousey announced the fight booking this morning on Good Morning America.
UFC 195 will come from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and ticket information is expected to be released by the UFC in the coming weeks.
Rousey (12-0) successfully defended the UFC women’s bantamweight title at the beginning of the month when she defeated Bethe Correia in 34 seconds. Five of her six wins in the UFC have come in the first round and her last three fights have lasted a combined 64 seconds. Holm (9-0) entered the UFC at the beginning of this year after being the Legacy FC women’s bantamweight champion. Both of her wins in the UFC have come by decision and she is coming off a win against Marion Reneau at UFC Fight Night 71.
“She’s definitely my biggest challenge to date, so I’m super excited about it,” said Rousey on Good Morning America. “I prepare for a five-round war every time I get in there. No one’s easy until after you beat them, and with Holly Holm, she’s the type that is ready to go 12 boxing rounds. She’s not the average chick that I fight. She’s the best striker I’ve ever fought, and striking is something I learned much later in my career. So I don’t ever expect fights to be easy and fast. No one knows exactly how the fights are going to go, and that’s why everybody buys them.”
More information on UFC 195: Rousey vs. Holm will be released in the coming weeks by the UFC.
