Amateur featherweight Doug Williams will be returning to competition on Saturday at Valor Fights 35 as he will look for his eighth amateur victory when he faces Nick Sanderlin on the fight card coming from the Appalachian Fairgrounds in Gray, Tennessee.
Williams (7-4) is currently on a six fight winning streak and is coming off a decision win against James Settle at APEX Fights 10 in March. Three of those six wins have come by submission and during a recent interview with The MMA Report, Williams talked about the sacrifices he has made being a mixed martial artist.
“It’s really just a grind. When it comes down to sacrificing. You sacrifice everything like you said,” Williams told The MMA Report. “You sacrifice sleep. Sometimes you don’t want to get up those extra two to three hours. You sacrifice the food you want to eat. You have to sacrifice that beer you want to drink on that Friday night with your buddies, girlfriend or whatever. The biggest sacrifice I think is just not lifting too hard. That is the biggest one. I love working out and you just have to learn your body to prevent injuries. Hanging out with all my buddies and spending time with my family is probably the hardest one.”
