A middleweight fight has been booked for CES MMA 37 in August as former CES MMA welterweight champion Chuck O’Neil will meet Trent McCown on the main card.
The fight booking was announced by CES MMA on Friday.
CES MMA 37 will come from the Twin River Casino in Lincoln, Rhode Island and will be headlined by Andre Soukhamthath defending the CES MMA bantamweight title against Kin Moy.
O’Neil (16-8) is coming off a decision win in May against Dennis Olson and the win snapped a two fight losing streak. He is 5-2 in his last seven fights and three of those wins have come by stoppage.
“Trent is biting off more than he can chew. My hat’s off to him for making the jump up to CES MMA, no matter what his chances are,” said O’Neil. “If he tries to bounce around too much, he’s going to catch one on the chin and go to sleep. If he gets too close to me, I’m not pulling a single-leg takedown — I’m launching him with a German suplex. Best wishes!”
McCown (7-3) will be making his CES MMA debut in this bout and is coming off a TKO lost against Brian Booth in April. He is 3-2 in his last five fights and six of his seven career wins have come by submission.
“I just plan on putting on a good performance and coming out with the victory. No matter how it’s done, I just plan on coming out with my hand up. Period, bottom-line,” McCown said. On Fight Night I’ll make him decide whether he wants to take the MMA route or the pro wrestling route.”
