Paul Daley now has an opponent for Cage Contenders 16 on February 23rd in Ireland has he will face Patrick Vallee.
The fight was reported first by Fighters Only, which had quotes from the President of Cage Contenders.
Daley (30-12-2) decided to take the fight with Cage Contenders after visa problems would not allow him to compete in the upcoming Bellator welterweight tournament.
Before Cage Contenders could announce Daley’s opponent, they had to get approval from Bellator. According to the Fighters Only report, Cage Contenders did get approval from the California based organization.
Vallee (9-4-1, 2NC) started him MMA career in 2003, which he took on now UFC fighter Siyar Bahadurzada and the fight was a draw. Following his debut, he went 7-1, 2NC and six of those victories came by stoppage. He has gone 2-3 in his last 5 fives with his most recent fight coming in October at Superior 8, which he defeated Martin Wojcik by submission in the first round.
Daley’s has stated over the past couple of weeks that he wants to stay active while his visa issues are taken care of and this may not be the only fight he takes outside of Bellator in 2013.
