The UFC has added a pair of bouts to the UFC 158 card on March 16th in Montreal as Antonio Carvalho faces Darren Elkins in a featherweight bout and Mitch Gagnon meets Issei Tamura in a bantamweight bout.
UFC officials announced the fight booking on Monday afternoon and both fights will take place on the preliminary card, which will likely be shown on FX and the UFC Facebook page.
Carvalho (15-5) has won two straight in the UFC after losing his debut with the organization at UFC 142 at the beginning of 2012. His most recent victory came at UFC 154, which he defeated Rodrigo Damm by split decision.
Elkins (15-2) entered the UFC as a lightweight and went 1-1 in the division. Following his second UFC fight, he decided to move down to the featherweight division and has gone 4-0 as a featherweight in the UFC. His most recent win came at UFC 154 against Steven Siler by decision.
Gagnon (9-2) made his debut in the UFC last year at UFC 149 and was defeated by Bryan Caraway. He lost the fight in the third round by rear-naked choke submission, but won the fight of the night bonus. He returned at UFC 152 and scored his first UFC victory with a rear-naked choke submission over Walel Watson.
Tamura (7-3) came to the UFC in early 2012 when he stepped in for an injured Leonard Garcia at UFC 144 and scored a victory over Zhang Tiequan. He won the fight by knockout in the second round and it was his second career knockout victory. Following the fight, he moved down to the bantamweight division at UFC on FUEL TV 4 and was defeated by Raphael Assuncao by TKO in the second round.
UFC 158 takes place on March 16th at the Bell Centre in Montreal and will be headlined by UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre facing former Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz.
