The final preliminary card bout of UFC 159 was a lightweight bout and the fight ended in the first round after Yancy Medeiros broke his thumb.
Medeiros was attempting to stop a takedown of Khabilov and broke his thumb in a transition. When the fighters got to their feet, Medeiros looked at the referee concerning his thumb on his right hand.
Referee Dan Miragliotta saw that his thumb was broken and called the fight. The official end of the fight came at the 2:32 mark of the opening round and Khabilov wins the fight via TKO.
Khabilov (16-1) has won five in a row and two of those victories have come in the UFC. Both of his wins in the UFC have come in the first round by TKO/KO and this is his fourth career win by TKO/KO.
