The trilogy bout between UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos will likely happen in October at UFC 166 in Houston.
UFC President Dana White announced the plans during his UFC 161 pre-fight media scrum in Winnipeg today.
White did not announce a date or venue for the fight but it would likely take place at the Toyota Center which hosted UFC 136 in 2011.
Both fighters are coming off knockout victories at UFC 160 on Memorial Day weekend with Velasquez defeating Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva in the first round and Dos Santos stopping Mark Hunt in the third round after he landed a spinning kick.
Velasquez and Dos Santos originally met at UFC on FOX 1 in November of 2011 and Dos Santos won the UFC heavyweight title by knockout in 64 seconds. The rematch took place at the end of last year at UFC 155 and Velasquez dominated Dos Santos to win by unanimous decision and reclaim the UFC title.
