A women’s bantamweight bout has been added to The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale on April 13 in Las Vegas as former Strikeforce champion Miesha Tate will meet Cat Zingano.
UFC officials announced the fight booking today and Tate’s management team confirmed she has signed a multi fight agreement with the UFC.
Tate (13-3) is the former Strikeforce women’s bantamweight champion and went 6-2 in the organization. Her only losses in Strikeforce came against Sarah Kaufman and current UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey.
“The ultimate goal for me is to win the UFC Women’s Bantamweight title. My training has never been stronger, and I feel I am putting myself in a position to become the best in the world,” Tate said in a press release sent out by First Round Management. “This contract only serves as validation that my hard work is paying off, but also as motivation to continue to push myself to new levels.”
Zingano (7-0) comes to the UFC after having a fight in Invicta FC in late 2012. Six of her seven victories have come by stoppage, with three wins coming by TKO/KO and three coming by submission. Her last four wins have come by stoppage, which includes a submission win over Raquel Pennington at Invicta FC 3.
The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale will take place on April 13th and is expected to come from The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino and will feature the finals of the reality show, which is currently airing on FX on Tuesday nights.
