Heavyweight Matt Mitrione is heading to Bellator as he announced on Monday’s edition of “The MMA Hour” that he has signed a multi-fight deal with the promotion.

“After a lovely free agency period, I have decided that I am going to go to Bellator,” Mitrione said on The MMA Hour. “I was really interested in the options that Bellator was offering. I was really interested in the conversation that they were willing to have. I think they are making the right moves.”

Mitrione (9-5) recently had his contract with the UFC expire following his lost to Travis Browne at UFC Fight Night 81. Currently, Mitrione is seeking to get the result of the fight overturned to a no-contest due to multiple fouls in the fights. Prior to the fight against Browne, he lost to Ben Rothwell at UFC Fight Night 68 and that defeat snapped a three fight winning streak.

The Bellator debut of Mitrione is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

I’m gonna keep some of my opinions to myself. The thing I said about Sam Caplan I should’ve kept to myself. You still mad or we good now?

Mitrione vs Kongo II or Mitrione vs Lashley as his first fight in Bellator?

Can you believe Matt Mitrione is getting paid 6 figures for each of his 4 fights? They should’ve offered Sterling that much. Or 120k per fight.

Scott Coker said Overeem and Sterling wanted a lot of money. They overpriced themselves. They didn’t think those two were worth what they were asking for.

But they for some reason think Mitrione is worth 6 figures per fight.

Bellator recently released Zayats. I knew they would. They haven’t gave him a fight in over 2 yrs. I think he should sign with Rizin FF or M1 Global.

RFA, Legacy, And Titan champions Bellator signed: Justin Lawrence, Kiko France, Gilbert Smith, Mike B, Chase Gormley.

I rather see Ward vs Zarmoskis rather than Ward vs Cyborg. Hbu?
I wish they would’ve kept him.

Bellator’s heavyweight divison would be pretty good if they still had Volkov and Ivanov. Right now they need to try to stack it by adding more top guys. Also need to stack Bantamweight and Middleweight divisions.

When it comes to Brennan Ward, I would have rather seen him against Fernando Gonzalez in a number one contender fight.

What are your top 5 title fights you’re looking forward to in the world of MMA? And top 5 non title fights?

What are your dream fights you wanna see in UFC and Bellator? Mine are: Jones vs Werdum, Cyborg vs Rousey, Fedor vs King Mo. Fedor vs Lashley, Brooks vs Henderson. Henderson vs Chandler, MVP vs Ward. Luke Rockhold vs Anderson Silva.

What do you think about Bellator 154 being on the same night as UFC 198? Stupid idea? Or doesn’t really matter bc they’ll still get big ratings?

What do you think of Rampage vs Mitrione as Matt’s first fight in Bellator?
