Joe Warren: I just want to impress myself this fight

Former Bellator featherweight and bantamweight champion Joe Warren will look to get back into title contention tonight in the Bellator bantamweight division as he will meet Sirwan Kakai in the co-main event of Bellator 161.

Warren (12-4, 1NC) is winless in his last three fights and is coming off a submission defeat in March at Bellator 151 as he was defeated by Darren Caldwell. Just like Warren, Kakai is coming off a defeat at Bellator 151 and Warren stated on Wednesday’s edition of “The MMA Report Podcast” that he knows he is fighting a tough guy.

“He is dangerous as hell. He has been in every single fight that he has lost,” Warren said. “These last two fights that he lost, but he has been in them. The most dangerous man is a guy coming off a lost. That is like me and he has a lot to prove. He is a veteran and he has been in that cage a lot. He wants to stand up and brawl. I am a wrestler and I win my fight by wrestling. I plan on taking him to the ground and beating him to death.”

“It’s just another body in front of me,” he continued. “That is how I do it. I do not worry about the actual person. I just worry about that body. I just want to impress myself this fight. Go out there and take care of business. Make some money for my family and move forward. Hopefully get that title shot after that. But first things first. We have to get through this opponent on Friday. I do not look overlook anybody.”
