Former Bellator lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez announced last week that he would be returning to action in October and his opponent has been announced.
Bellator Chairman & CEO Bjorn Rebney announced on Twitter today that he will take on Patricky “Pitbull” Freire at Bellator 76.

Bellator 76 takes place on October 12th and will come from Caesars Windsor. The fight between Alvarez and Pitbull will be the main event of the fight card.
This is the last fight on Alvarez’s (23-3) Bellator contract and his future with the company is unknown at this time. He lost his title last year to Michael Chandler and returned in April. He took on Shinya Aoki at Bellator 66 and won the fight in the first round by TKO.
Freire (10-3) is a lightweight tournament finalist in Bellator and he was defeated in the finals by Chandler. After defeating Kurt Pellegrino in late 2011, he returned to the Bellator lightweight tournament, but was defeated by Lloyd Woodard in the quarterfinals.
This is the only bout that has been announced for Bellator 76 and stay tuned to TheMMAReport.com for updates on this fight card.
