Prior to the main event at UFC 150, UFC President Dana White stated that Nate Diaz would get the winner of the tonight’s title fight.
White stuck by his word and said at the post fight press conference that Frankie Edgar would not get a rematch after tonight’s split decision victory for Henderson.
Many MMA media members scored the fight for Edgar and White was asked how he scored the fight. His response what that he is not a judge and had the fight even heading into the final round.
He did say that both fighters came up to him after the decision was announced and asked who he thought won the fight. His answer to both fighters were that he is not a judge.
Edgar was asked about the possibility of getting another title shot and said he believed that Dana would not give him another title shot. The former UFC lightweight champion would not comment on his future, but it appears he may drop down to the featherweight division.
No timetable has been set for when Henderson will defend his title against Diaz, but the champion appears to be healthy coming out of tonight’s fight. If Henderson is healthy, look for him to defend the title either late this year or early in 2013.
