UFC on FX 5 will be taking place on October 5th from the Target Center in Minneapolis and the UFC has confirmed two rumored bouts and announced an injury change to the card.
Louis Gaudinot has suffered an injury and has pulled out of his fight against Darren Uyenoyama. Stepping in for Gaudinot at UFC on FX 5 will be Phil Harris, who will be making his UFC debut in this fight.
The UFC has also confirmed two rumored bouts as Yves Edwards will meet Jeremy Stephens in a lightweight bout and Mike Pierce will meet Aaron Simpson in a welterweight bout.
Harris (21-9) is currently on a five fight winning streak and has 13 career wins by submission. When he does suffer a defeat it has been by stoppage as eight of his nine career losses are by either knockout or submission. Uyenoyama (7-3) will be making his UFC flyweight debut in this fight and won his UFC debut last year. He was scheduled to meet John Dodson at UFC on FOX 3, but had to pull out of the fight with an injury.
Edwards (41-18-1) is a veteran of the UFC, Pride, Bellator and Elite XC. He is currently in his second stint in the UFC and has gone 3-2 since returning to the company. He is coming off a lost to Tony Ferguson, which he felt he should have won the decision. Stephens (20-8) is currently on a two fight losing streak and the most recent defeat coming against Donald Cerrone earlier this year. Prior to the recent losing streak, he had won four of his last five and won a fight night bonus in two of those fights.
Simpson (12-3) recently made his UFC welterweight debut against Kenny Robertson and won by unanimous decision. He has won four of his last five fights, with all of the wins coming by decision. Pierce (14-5) has gone 2-2 in his last four fights and both defeats where by split decision.
UFC on FX 5 takes place from the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota and will be headlined by a five round heavyweight fight as Travis Browne meets Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva.
