The third fight of the UFC 150 preliminary card on FX will feature the first middleweight bout of the night as Jared Hamman (13-4) meets Michael Kuiper (11-1).
Hamman has been in the UFC since late 2009 and entered the UFC as a light heavyweight. After losing to Kyle Kingsbury at UFC Fight Night 22, he dropped down to the UFC middleweight division.
Since dropping down in weight, he has gone 1-1 with the win coming against C.B. Dollaway and the defeat happening at UFC 140 against Constantinos Philippou. During his UFC career, he has never lost back to back fights and ten of his wins have come by knockout.
Kuiper made his UFC debut earlier this year at UFC 143 and was defeated by Rafael Natal by decision. He started his career with eleven straight victories and ten of those wins were by knockout.
His background is in judo, which he holds a black belt and is a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Prior to his UFC debut, his last three fights only lasted one round and half of his bouts have not made it out of the first round.
Hamman will have a slight reach advantage over his opponent, but Kuiper holds an advantage in striking accuracy.
Both fighters have a history of scoring knockout victories and the same should be expected in this fight. With both fighters entering this fight with a lost in their last fight, they will both be looking to show the UFC they belong in the organization.
