Demetrious Johnson’s number one goal is to finish his opponent

Demetrious Johnson and Joseph Benavidez will square off in the co-main event of UFC 152 later this month and the winner will become the first ever UFC flyweight champion.

Johnson earned a spot in this fight by defeating Ian McCall earlier this year at UFC on FX 3 and won by unanimous decision. He has gone 5-2-1 in the WEC/UFC and has only finished one of his opponents.

Even thought he has not been able to finish his opponents recently, his number one goal is to finish his opponent.

“My number one goal is to go out there and finish somebody,”Johnson said. “If I go in there and kick somebody in the head and they fall down and I’m like, Woo, yeah, give me that strap and walk away. I’m happy with that. He’s a great fighter, yeah, he’s a killer. He goes out there and he tries to finish opponents.”

If Johnson is able to get a stoppage victory over Benavidez, he would be the first opponent to defeat Benavidez by stoppage. Benavidez has two losses in his career and both of them were by decision against Dominick Cruz.
