Daniel Cormier still hoping to face Frank Mir in Strikeforce

Late last week, Strikeforce announced the cancellation of the November 3rd card in Oklahoma City because of injuries to Frank Mir and middleweight champion Luke Rockhold.

Mir suffered a knee injury and had to pull out of his scheduled fight against Daniel Cormier, who has one fight left on his Strikeforce contract before he can transition into the UFC.

During last night’s edition of “Inside MMA” on AXS TV, Cormier stated that he doesn’t know if he will be on the next Strikeforce card, which will take place in January.

With the delay for his last fight in Strikeforce, Cormier is hopeful that Mir’s injury is healed and he can take on the former UFC champion in January.

“I don’t have an opponent, but with the two month delay, hopefully Frank Mir’s injury is healed up and ready to go,” Cormier said.

Cormier has not been officially told by Strikeforce that he will be on the January card, which Strikeforce has not announced the date or venue for the card. He knows that the card in January will definitely take place and is hoping he is on the card.

“I have not been told I’m fighting for sure but if they are promising a stacked card, I’m hoping that I’m one of those guys they look at as a guy you put on the card and it instantly becomes a little better.”
