The main event of UFC on FX 5 was a heavyweight bout scheduled for five rounds with Travis Browne taking on Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva.
Browne opened up as the aggressor by throwing a right hand and a head kick, but Silva was able to move away from those strikes.
Silva was able to grapple Browne against the cage and attempted to use the clinch to set up his strikes. The action would move back to the center of the octagon and it appeared that Browne may have a knee injury.
Silva landed a right hand that connected and dropped his opponent. He took advantage of the situation and landed several unanswered shots and referee Herb Dean came in to stop the fight.
This is the first UFC victory for Silva after making his UFC debut earlier this year and shows he is a contender in the UFC heavyweight division.
