Strikeforce has added a lightweight bout to their January 12th fight card as KJ Noons will take on Ryan Couture.
Strikeforce officials announced the fight booking on Thursday and the bout will likely be on the preliminary card on Showtime Extreme.
Noons (11-5) has gone 3-3 in Strikeforce and has lost three of his last four fight, with the losses coming against Nick Diaz, Jorge Masvidal and Josh Thomson. Prior to his fight with Thomson, he defeated Billy Evangelista by decision. His fight with Thomson was a title eliminator fight and he has not stepped into the cage since that fight.
Couture (6-1) has competed in Strikeforce since his second career bout and is currently on a three fight winning streak. Four of his six professional wins are by stoppage and is coming off a decision win over Joe Duarte in July.
Strikeforce: Champions take place on January 12th from the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City and is likely to be headlined by Nate Marquardt defending the Strikeforce welterweight title against Tarec Saffiedine.
