Report: Luke Rockhold out of Strikeforce bout in January

Strikeforce’s January fight card is called “Champions,” but the card has reportedly lost another champion as middleweight champion Luke Rockhold has suffered an injury.

The news of the injury was reported by The MMA Corner and Strikeforce or Showtime officials have not confirmed the report at this time.

Rockhold (10-1) has suffered a wrist injury according to the report, which is the same injury that forced him out of his scheduled defense earlier this year against Lorenz Larkin.

With Rockhold and lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez off the card, the only champion remaining on the card is welterweight champion Nate Marquardt. He is scheduled to defend his title against Tarec Saffiedine and is likely the main event on the fight card now.

The current Strikeforce: Champions fight card is below:

Nate Marquardt vs. Tarec Saffiedine – Welterweight Title Bout
Daniel Cormier vs. Dion Staring
Gegard Mousasi vs. Mike Kyle
Ryan Couture vs. K.J. Noons
Pat Healy vs. TBA
Lorenz Larkin vs. TBA
