The UFC has added a welterweight bout to UFC on FOX 6 on January 26th as David Mitchell will take on Simeon Thoresen.
UFC officials announced the bout on Monday and the fight will take place on the preliminary card.
Mitchell (11-2) opened his career with 11 straight victories before being signed by the UFC. He has lost both of his UFC bouts with both fights going the distance and the losses coming against TJ Waldburger and Paulo Thiago.
He was scheduled to be on the UFC on FUEL TV 6 card in China against Hyun Gyu Lim, but the fight was canceled before the weigh-in’s when doctors would not medically clear Lim to fight.
Thoresen (17-3-1) came to the UFC earlier this year after being the UWC welterweight champion, which is a promotion that is based in England. He won his UFC debut at UFC on FUEL TV 2 in Sweden, which was a second round submission victory over Besam Yousef and his 15th career win by submission.
He returned to the octagon at UFC 152 in September, but he was defeated in the first round by Seth Baczynski. The lost snapped a three fight losing streak and he had gone 8-1-1 in his previous 10 bouts before losing to Baczynski.
UFC on FOX 6 takes place on January 26th from the United Center from Chicago and will be headlined by Demetrious Johnson making his first UFC flyweight title defense against John Dodson.
