A welterweight bout has been added to UFC on FUEL TV 7 in London with submission specialist Gunnar Nelson taking on Justin Edwards.
UFC officials announced the fight on Thursday and it’s not known where the fight will be placed on the fight card.
Nelson (10-0-1) is currently on a ten fight winning streak after his first professional bout was a draw. Since the draw, he has not gone to a decision and seven of his victories are by submission.
He was signed by the UFC earlier this year and made his debut at UFC on FUEL TV 5 against DaMarques Johnson. He was originally scheduled to take on Pascal Krauss, but Johnson stepped in when Krauss pulled out with an injury. He ended up defeating Johnson in the first round by submission and it was his fifth straight win by submission in the first round.
Edwards (8-2) was a contestant on “The Ultimate Fighter 13” and has gone 2-2 in the UFC. He lost his official UFC debut against Clay Harvison at the TUF 13 Finale by split decision and has won two of his last three fights.
He is coming off a technical submission win over Josh Neer at UFC on FX 5, which he ended the fight in 45 seconds and was awarded the submission of the night bonus. This was his first submission win since 2010 and it was his sixth career victory by submission.
UFC on FUEL TV 7 takes place on February 16th at Wembley Arena in London and will be headlined by Renan Barao defending the interim UFC bantamweight title against Michael McDonald.
