The UFC has added a pair of bouts to the UFC 157 card on February 23rd in California as Josh Koscheck will meet Robbie Lawler in a welterweight bout and Chad Mendes faces Manny Gamburyan in a featherweight bout.
Both fights were announced by UFC officials on Thursday and both bouts could be placed on the main card, which will air on pay-per-view.
Koscheck (17-6) is coming off a lost to Johny Hendricks earlier this year at UFC on FOX 3, which he was defeated by split decision. Prior to his fight with Hendricks, he had won two in a row, which included a knockout of the night victory against Matt Hughes at UFC 135.
Lawler (19-9, 1NC) comes to the UFC after being a Strikeforce fighter since 2009 and this will be his second stint in the UFC. While in Strikeforce, he went 3-5 and has lost three of his last four fights.
Mendes (13-1) is currently on a two fight winning streak after being defeated by UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo at UFC 142. During his recent winning streak, both of the wins have come by knockout in the first round, with the most recent win coming last week against Yaotzin Meza at UFC on FX 6.
Gamburyan (12-7) recently snapped a three fight losing streak with a decision victory over Michihiro Omogawa at UFC on FOX 4. It was his first win since 2010, when he defeated Mike Brown by knockout at WEC 48.
UFC 157 takes place on February 23rd at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California and will be headlined by Ronda Rousey defending the UFC women’s bantamweight title against Liz Carmouche.
