UFC on FX 6 Live Results and Play by Play

UFC on FX 6 takes place tonight from the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in Broadbeach, Queensland, Australia and TheMMAReport.com will have live results and play by play of tonight’s card.UFC on FX 6

The preliminary card will begin at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. ET on FUEL TV with six fights and the main card will begin at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on FX with four fights.

Tonight’s card will be headlined by a five round lightweight bout as George Sotiropoulos meets Ross Pearson and will see the finals of TUF: The Smashes.

Hector Lombard vs. Rousimar Palhares

Round 1 – The fighters came out exchanging leg kicks and Palhares attempted to grapple, but Lombard broke away. They would continue to exchange strikes and he would drop Palhares, but he would immediately get up. Lombard continued to come forward with punches and kicks. Lombard would land a left hand that dropped Palhares and looked to finish the fight on the ground. Palhares began to hold Lombard on the bottom, but Lombard would get up. Once they were back on the feet, Lombard landed a left hand that dropped Palhares and he landed a few more strikes before the referee came in to stop the fight.

Colin Fletcher vs. Norman Parke

Round 1 – Parke looked for the clinch as the fight started, but Fletcher held onto the arms of Parke to stop the takedown attempt. They would grapple against the cage and Parke would get the fight to the ground. Fletcher would be able to get back to his feet and they would continue to grapple against the cage. Once again, Parke would get the fight to the ground by a leg sweep. Parke would have the half guard position and looked for submissions as he landed strikes on the ground. Fletcher would be able to reverse the position in the final 30 seconds of the round, but Parke was able to avoid any dangerous strikes.

Round 2 – Fletcher opened the round with low kicks and looking to keep his distance from his opponent. Parke would close the distance by getting in the clinch and would take the fight to the ground. They would move to different positions and Parke looked for a guillotine choke, which Fletcher would escape. After the submission attempt, Parke would obtain the mount position and looked for a rear-naked choke when he took the back of Fletcher. Fletcher would escape the position and get back to his feet. They would exchange strikes for the remainder of the round with Parke getting the better strikes.

Round 3 – As the round started, Fletcher came out more aggressive than previous rounds.  They would exchange strikes, with Fletcher’s best strikes being kicks. As the round went on, Fletcher began to land combinations. With 40 seconds left in the round, Parke took the fight to the ground and would get the back of Fletcher. Fletcher would get back to his feet as the fight came to a finish.

Result: Norman Parke def. Colin Fletcher via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)

Robert Whittaker vs. Brad Scott

Round 1 – The fighters exchange strikes for the first 40 seconds of the round before Scott went in for a takedown and the fighters grappled against the cage. Whittaker would be able to break away and the action returned to the middle of the cage. They would exchange strikes and Whittaker would land a combination that dropped Scott and he looked for the finish. Scott would be able to survive and get back to his feet. After grappling against the cage, Whittaker would land a combination that had Scott on his heels and Whittaker would land a right hand as the round ended.

Round 2 – Scott would open the round as the aggressor and would end up clinching with his opponent. Whittaker would separate and they would continue to exchange strikes. Whittaker would land a low kick to the groin which stopped the action for a minute. The action would continue and Scott would get the fight to the ground. He got the back of Whittaker and began to look for a rear-naked choke. Whittaker would eventually be able to get out of the bad position and back to his feet. The round would end with each fighter landing kicks.

Round 3 – They would continue to strike with each other as the round started, with Whittaker being the aggressor. Whittaker landed an elbow on the inside and Scott would land a counter strike. Each fighter would land a combination with Whittaker landing a punch and kick combination with one minute left. Whittaker would continue to push the action and have Scott on his heels. As the round came to an end, they both threw strikes that landed and the judges will decide the winner.

Result: Robert Whittaker def. Brad Scott via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

George Sotiropoulos vs. Ross Pearson

Round 1 – After a feeling out process, Pearson landed a right hand that hurt Sotiropoulos and he went into survivor mode. He would be able to hang on but Pearson continued to push the pace. Pearson would land a leg kick that buckled Sotiropoulos and he went to the ground. Sotiropoulos would be able to get to his feet before Pearson could do anything on the ground. Sotiropoulos looked for a takedown with one minute left in the round and he would get the fight to the ground. Once on the ground, Sotiropoulos looked for a rear-naked choke. Pearson would be able to survive the submission attempt and make it to the end of the round.

Round 2 – They would exchange jabs for the first half of the round, with Pearson beginning to look for combinations. Sotiropoulos looked to clinch, but Pearson would escape. Pearson would land a left hook that dropped Sotiropoulos, but he would be able to get back to his feet. The round would come to an end with Sotiropoulos looking for a takedown, but Pearson would stop the attempt.

Round 3 – Pearson would open the round with a left hook that dropped Sotiropoulos, but once again he would get back to his feet. Once back on the feet, Pearson landed a left jab and finished the fight with a body shot.
