UFC featherweight Chad Mendes was pulled this week from UFC 157 because his opponent suffered an injury and the UFC has now booked him to face Clay Guida at UFC on FOX 7 on April 20th.
The fight booking was first reported by USA Today and Mendes management team has confirmed the fight booking.
Mendes (13-1) has won four of his five fights in the UFC, with the only lost coming against Jose Aldo in a featherweight title shot at UFC 142 last year. He has won back to back fights with both wins coming by first round knockout.
He was scheduled to face Manny Gamburyan next week at UFC 157, but Gamburyan pulled out of the fight with an injury and the UFC could not find him a new opponent for the card.
Guida (30-13) recently moved down to the featherweight division and won his debut with a split decision victory over Hatsu Hioki at UFC on FOX 6. It was his first win since June of 2011 when he defeated Anthony Pettis at The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale.
UFC on FOX 7 takes place on April 20th from the HP Pavilion in San Jose and will be headlined by Benson Henderson defending the UFC lightweight title against Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez.
