The season eight finale of Bellator MMA is scheduled for April 4th in Atlantic City and was scheduled to be headlined by featherweight champion Pat Curran defending the title against season six tournament winner Daniel Straus.
However, Straus is out of the fight with a broken hand. The report of the injury was originally reported by MMA Junkie and TheMMAReport.com has been able to confirm the report with sources.
Bellator will now have to look for a new main event and it’s unknown at this time if Curran will stay on the card, which will take place from the Revel Resort and Casino in Atlantic City.
Currently, the Bellator 95 card is scheduled to have Jessica Eye meet Munah Holland and former welterweight champion Lyman Good meet Dante Rivera.
Straus (21-4) is currently on a five fight winning streak and has gone 7-1 in Bellator. He won the season six Bellator tournament last year, which he defeated Marlon Sandro by decision in the final. After winning the tournament, he took on Alvin Robinson at Bellator 78 and won by submission in the second round.
If Curran does stay on the Bellator 95 card, a potential opponent could be Shahbulat Shamhalaev. He won the season seven featherweight tournament last week at Bellator 90 against Rad Martinez with a TKO victory in the second round.
