A middleweight bout has been added to UFC on FOX 7 on April 20th in San Jose as Lorenz Larkin will make his UFC debut against Francis Carmont.
UFC officials announced the fight on Saturday and the bout is likely to take place on the preliminary card on FX.
Larkin (13-0, 1NC) comes over to the UFC via Strikeforce, where he went 4-0, 1NC as a light heavyweight and middleweight. Following his no contest bout against Muahmmed “King Mo” Lawal, he dropped down to middleweight and defeated Robbie Lawler. He was scheduled to face Luke Rockhold for the Strikeforce middleweight title, but Rockhold suffered an injury and had to pull out of the fight.
Carmont (20-7) is currently on a nine fight winning streak and four of those wins have come in the UFC. Since coming to the UFC in 2011, he has two submission victories and recently defeated Tom Lawlor by split decision at UFC 154.
UFC on FOX 7 takes place on April 20th from the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California and will be headlined by Benson Henderson defending the UFC lightweight title against Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez.
