Jake Ellenberger has a new opponent for UFC 158 as former Strikeforce welterweight champion has agreed to face him on March 16th in Montreal.
The news was originally reported by The Canadian Press and the UFC has confirmed the fight.
Ellenberger (28-6) was originally scheduled to face Johny Hendricks at UFC 158, but Hendricks was moved to the main event yesterday when Rory MacDonald pulled out of his fight with Carlos Condit.
He has gone 7-2 in the UFC with his only losses coming against Carlos Condit and Martin Kampmann. He has won seven of his last eight fights and is coming off a decision win against Jay Hieron at UFC on FX 5.
This will be the return to the UFC for Marquardt (32-11-2), who was released from the company in 2011. After being released by UFC, Marquardt ended up signing with Strikeforce and won the vacant welterweight title against Tyron Woodley. He made his first Strikeforce title defense at the final Strikeforce card and was defeated by Tarec Saffiedine.
UFC 158 takes place on March 16th from the Bell Centre in Montreal and will be headlined by Georges St-Pierre defending the UFC welterweight title against former Strikeforce champion Nick Diaz.
