A heavyweight bout has been added to The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale on April 13th in Las Vegas as Travis Browne will meet Gabriel Gonzaga.
UFC President Dana White announced the fight on Twitter today and the bout will take place on the main card on FX.
Browne (13-1-1) has gone 4-1-1 in his six UFC fights and he was most recently defeated by Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva at UFC on FX 5. It was the first defeat of his career and suffered an injury in the fight before Silva scored the knockout victory.
Three of his four victories in the UFC have come by stoppage, which includes a knockout victory over Stefan Struve at UFC 130. He won the knockout of the night bonus for his win over Struve and he has won two fight night bonuses during his UFC career.
Gonzaga (14-6) recently returned to the UFC after being released from the company in 2010. After being released, he won one fight outside of the organization and was brought back at UFC 142.
He has won both of his fights in the UFC since returning and is coming off a second round submission victory over Ben Rothwell at UFC on FX 7 last month. It was his third straight win by submission and his ninth career win by submission.
The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale will take place on April 13th and is expected to come from The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and will feature the finals of the reality show, which is currently airing on Tuesday night’s on FX.
